More information on MCP/MCP
Exams
What is a MCPS?
Microsoft says: " To become a Microsoft Certified Product Specialist
(MCPS), you must pass certification exams that provide a valid and reliable
measure of technical proficiency and expertise. Training designated as
Microsoft Official Curriculum or as Microsoft Approved Study Guides map
directly to the exams you must pass to become certified. Along with training,
you will need hands-on experience to fully prepare to take Microsoft Certification
exams conducted by Drake Prometric. MCPSs are required to pass one operating
system exam. "
In a nutshell, a MCPS need to pass at least one operating system exam (an
elective does not count). You will remain a MCPS until you have passed
the three additional operating system exams and two electives. You do not
have to be working towards MCSE. You can stop at MCPS, and in fact, most
people do.
What is a MCSE?
Microsoft says: "To become a Microsoft Certified Systems
Engineer (MCSE), you must pass certification exams that provide a valid
and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise. Training designated
as Microsoft Official Curriculum or as Microsoft Approved Study Guides
map directly to the exams you must pass to become certified. Along with
training, you will need hands-on experience to fully prepare to take Microsoft
Certification exams conducted by Drake Prometric. MCSEs are required to
pass four operating system exams and two elective exams."
Please note that these requirements do change from time to time, such as
when Microsoft replaces a product or releases an upgrade.

You will either take the NT3.51 track or NT 4.0 track, the requirement
for Windows client product(win3.x win95) , Network and elective are the
same. So if you are new to MCP, I¡¡suggest you take Win95 and
Network Essential first. So either you take NT3.51 track or NT4.0 track,
they are both useful.
